The following previously recorded records have been retired due to changes in event specification. They are maintained here in case future changes to event specifications or competition program allow their reinstatement.

  • In the 2024/25 season, the 6-year-olds boys and girls groups switched from the 1kg to the 500g shot put in line with LANSW recommendations.
  • The following hurdles event specifications changes came into effect in the 2024/25 season:
    • 13-year-old boys straight hurdles changed from 80m (76cm) to 90m (76cm).
    • 14-year-old girls straight hurdles changed from 80m (76cm) to 90m (76cm)..
    • 14-year-old boys straight hurdles changed from 90m (76cm) to 100m (76cm)
    • 13-year-old boys and girls long hurdles changed from 200m (68cm) to 200m (76cm).
    • 14-year-old boys and girls long hurdles changed from 200m (76cm) to 300m (76cm).
    • 16 and 17-year-old boys and girls long hurdles changed from 300m (76cm) to 400m (76cm).
  • In the 2024/25 season the following throws event specifications changed:
    • 14-year-old girls javelin switched from 400g to 500g.
    • 14-year-old boys javelin switched from 600g to 700g.
    • 14-year-old boys shot put switched from 3kg to 4kg (reverted the 2014/15 change and reinstated a previously retired record).
  • In the 2019/20 season, the hurdles specifications for 11 and 12-year-olds boys and girls groups switched from 60m to 80m (retaining the same hurdle heights).
  • The 1500m was withdrawn for the 10-year-old age groups in the 2018/19 season.
  • In the 2018/19 season several throws event specifications changed:
    • 11-year-olds boys and girls groups switched from a 750g to 500g discus.
    • 13-year-old boys switched from 1kg to 750g discus.
    • 12-year-old boys switched from 3kg to 2kg shot put.
  • In the 2016/17 season the 15 through 17-year-old long hurdles changed from 200m (76cm) to 300m (76cm).
  • Note that high jump records were not retired in the 2015/16 season following the switch from flop to scissors high jump for the boys and girls 9 and 10-year-old groups.
  • In 2014/15 season there were throws event specification changes:
    • 14-year-old boys shot put switched from 4kg to 3kg (note this change was reverted in 2024/25).
    • 17-year-old girls shot put switched from 4kg to 3kg.
    • 14-year-old girls javelin switched from 600g to 400g (note subsequently changed to 500g in 2024/25).
    • 15 through 17-year-old girls javelin switched from 600g to 500g.
    • 15-year-old boys javelin switched from 600g to 700g.
  • In the 2001/02 season the pack start distances for 6 and 8-year-olds were changed (previous distances uncertain).
  • Previously contested 800m and 1500m race walks in the 9, 10, and 11-year-old age groups have been replaced with 700m and 1100m events.
  • Ball Throw and Vortex events are no longer contested by the 6-year-olds groups.
  • Various other event specification changes have occurred over the years, and are reflected in these retired records, especially in the hurdles and throws events.

In events now timed using electronic timing gates, where the current record was manually timed, those existing times have been standardised by adding 0.24s to the hand held times in accordance with LAA and LANSW approved protocols. These records are indicated with [s].
