Kendall Simpson Trophy
for Most Outstanding Male Athlete
In 1982, following the admission of male athletes to the Ryde Athletic Club, a trophy was donated in memory of Kendall Simpson, a Ryde athlete who was accidentally killed. The award was established to recognise the most outstanding male athlete.
The first recipient was Glyn Henman, an Under-15 all-round athlete. He was selected for the Under-15 State Team to compete in the Ken Elphick Men’s Under-15 Interstate Meet, where he placed second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.1 seconds and third in the triple jump with a distance of 11.35 metres.
